2011 Bologna Auto Show. Ferrari has upgraded the engine and aerodynamics on the 599XX Evolution, a new version of its limited-production track car that is being introduced here at the 2011 Bologna Auto Show.

As the name implies, the new model is an update of the car that Ferrari unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. The automaker said the Evo package will be available only to 599XX customers participating in the company’s track-based R&D program for the 2012-’13 seasons.

The 599XX Evo features active aerodynamics, including a rear wing with dual flaps, adapted from Formula 1, that automatically rotate to adjust downforce when cornering. The Evo aero package also bundles a modified front splitter and a larger rear diffuser.

Ferrari 599XX Evolution with 6.0-liter V12 gets a slight increase in output and torque, to 740 horsepower and 516 pound-feet, thanks mainly to a new side exhaust system. Other tweaks include the use of new Pirelli tires, the adoption of a shorter final gear ratio and a reduction in weight of 77 pounds.
